Attendance Information

Why Attendance Matters

Every school day counts!

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping your child succeed. Being in school every day ensures they don’t miss out on learning, friendships, and opportunities to grow. We understand that life happens and sometimes absences are unavoidable, but together we can make sure your child gets the best start possible.

Did You Know?

Missing just 15 days of school over the year can reduce attendance to 92%. Research shows that students below this percentage often achieve below the national rate of progress. At Archway, attendance below 92% equates to approximately half a grade lower than their peers

We want to support families before it gets to that stage, so please do not hesitate to contact our attendance team, if you’re finding getting your child to attend challenging.

Is My Child Too ill for School?

It can be hard to know when to keep your child at home. Here are some simple rules (taken from the  Is my child too ill for school? - NHS):

Send them to school if they have:

  • a mild cold
  • cough
  • sore throat
  • headache
  • or tiredness and feel well enough.

Keep them at home if they have:

  • Vomiting or diarrhoea (wait 48 hours after the last time)
  • Chickenpox, measles, or other contagious illnesses
  • Severe pain or symptoms that stop them from learning

Reporting an Absence

If your child is too unwell to attend:

  • Call us on:01453 763242
  • Report via Edulink

Please let us know the reason for absence as soon as possible.
