Une Visite en France – Year 7, 29th June
Super excited but bleary- eyed, 50 year 7 students and 5 members of staff set off early for France.
After a leisurely channel crossing – we headed straight for the Chocolaterie where the art of making fine chocolate was explained (Do you know the 4 types of chocolate?), followed by a “Generation Game”esque hands on workshop and most importantly some product sampling. Finally, laden with goodies we headed to the Chateau Ebblinghem where we received a warm welcome.
The next day, after our petit déjeuner à la français, we made our way to the town of St.Omer. Here students spent some time shopping in the traditional French market and practising their French. An hour or 2 later, we found ourselves at the Escargoterie! Who could have known that the world of a snail was so fascinating? (Could you tell me how many teeth a snail has?) After, learning all about these wonderful animals – we then got down to tasting them!
Our next stop – la boulangerie – here we discovered the secrets of making artisan bread and our students braved the scary and entertaining croissant demonstration from the “evil baker”! They all quickly learned -Farine! Sucre! De l’Eau! Sel! Lait! Beurre! Levure!
After that, we boarded the coach for the last time and after a whistle stop shop at the Centre Commercial – we headed for the Le Tunnel and home!
Merci year 7 for such an enjoyable trip!
