Music Department News

This term has been a busy one for the music department.

Choir, ukulele and boomwhacker clubs have been working hard for this year’s Christmas Concert which promises to be a fantastic, festive evening. Year 7 and 8 students have been studying the ukulele and film music, whilst Year 11 have been rehearsing for their final solo performance recitals. Year 9 and 10 students have been experimenting with composition, whilst We Will Rock You auditions got underway ready for January rehearsals.

On 21st November, 21 students travelled to London to watch the stage show ‘Wicked,’ supporting their GCSE studies of the set work. The group had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed the show, also enjoying our (icy!) picnic lunch outside Buckingham Palace!

Next term promises to be another busy one with the upcoming Spring Concert and show rehearsals getting underway. Year 11 students will also be completing their final compositions and performances ready for their examinations.

Well done to all the students involved in this terms music-making, the fantastic year 11 performance work, festive Christmas concert and for the brilliant day in London. Enjoy the break and have a very Happy Christmas!
