Enterprising Year 9 Students Step up to the £10 Enterprise Challenge

Mrs Sparkes and I would like to congratulate the year 9 Enterprise students who took part in the BTEC Tech Award Enterprise Challenge on Thursday 6th December.

The students worked in groups to research customer preferences and choose a suitable product to make and sell at Archway during lunchtime.  Each group was given a £10 loan to buy raw materials, they had to work out a production and sales strategy with the aim of making a profit.

The end result was impressive; the students worked hard to make a range of products to sell, which included reindeer cakes, snowman biscuits, fresh milkshakes, Christmas tree brownies, a raffle and a tombola. The students demonstrated excellent interpersonal and sales skills.  Most of the groups sold out and we are pleased to report that each group made a profit, which meant they were able to pay back the £10 loan!

It was a great effort by students, that will also provide valuable evidence for their course.
