On Friday the 13th of June, 43 year 7 students and 6 staff set off in the middle of the night to spend a day in Wimereux, France.
After a fabulous ferry crossing we arrived shortly afterwards in the Nord Pas de Calais. Students were set to task having been given a shopping list and placed carefully in the local outdoor market. Success was evident when they returned smiling broadly and carrying artichokes, strawberries, cheese and other local produce. We headed to the seafront promenade to eat our freshly bought goods and prepare for our survey. We are incredibly proud of our students for conducting a survey in French asking people about where they live and whether they like Wimereux and why. All responses were “c’est beau!” and we all agreed too! A rewarding cool drink at a café or an ice cream awaited those who could order in French – 100% of us were satisfied!
Well done to all the 43 students who represented Archway abroad; we can’t wait for our next visit with year 8 to Arras in July – to find out about its historic links with WW1.
