Year 10 GCSE Science trip to University of Bristol
20 Year 10 students, Mr Saunders, Miss Austin and Mrs Hammond were invited to the University of Bristol for a Science Taster Day.
They got a chance to explore the impressive lab facilities of the Biology and Physics Department. The students dissected owl pellets to work out what the owls had been feeding on. In addition a local bird handler brought in a kestrel and an owl which gave the students a rare opportunity to see these birds up close and in flight.
Next the students spent the afternoon in the physics lab completing three different practicals linked to light, sound and waves. The day ended with them experiencing a lecture about the origins and production of ice cream. Each student got to sample freshly made ice cream made using liquid nitrogen.
A fantastic day all round and we look forward to being invited back next year!
