Year 12 Health & Social Care Students Visit Stroud Maternity Hospital
We would like to express our thanks to the team at Stroud Maternity Hospital for the tour and talk they provided to year 12 Health and Social students this term.
The students were split into small groups and given a tour of the birthing facilities where they were able use monitoring equipment to take observations of their blood pressure and heart rate. It was interesting to learn more about the emergency systems in place and the clinical role of a midwife.
The second part of the tour included the mother and baby unit. The students were lucky enough to be introduced to two new mothers and their babies which helped them to understand the importance of postnatal support.
It was extremely beneficial to gain an insight into working practices within the setting and gain a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Midwife.
