AS Theatre Studies Performance
In May, the AS groups performed two exciting pieces magical pieces in front of a visiting examiner. Both pieces were directed by Mrs Lee Allan and Miss Williams.
Group 1: Josh Hill, Hugh Clifford, Ella Clifton Gould, Tarragon Watkins, Sharna Ali Khan, Jodie Banks, Megan McDermott and Emily Mew performed Carol Ann Duffy’s Grimm’s fairy tales. This haunting, visual, vibrant and dynamic piece of theatre told the tale of Ashputtel and Hansel & Gretel through the eyes of the narrators and characters themselves. It was adult storytelling at its best !
Group 2: Casey Carter, Caleb O’ Brien, Molly Howell, Molly Lee Allan, Harry Nutter, Ella Nurding and Ellie Price performed “Blue Remembered Hills” - an imaginative take on childhood in the 1940’s but highlighting the darkness that lies beneath what it is to be a child. We see the devastating effects of physical and emotional bullying against the backdrop of WW2. Lively 1940’s music serves as a contrast to the heart-breaking tale of isolation.
