In June, nine Year 10 students, who are taking part in the Bridge Building Mentoring scheme which teams mentors from businesses with local schools, went on a trip to the Enterprise Rent a Car offices in Bedminster in Bristol.
The students were given the task of assessing two cars (one of which was a very nice Jaguar!) and a van. They had to decide, by using Enterprise criteria, whether they would rent the vehicles out to the public again.
The students learned of the importance of brand image, customer relations and safety. In the afternoon the students’ competitive side came to the fore in a race against their mentors at a local go-karting centre. There were a few bruises on both sides the next day!
The mentors and the students have formed a close association after a year of meeting regularly and the students have learned some valuable lessons to take with them as they go into Year 11.
