Stroud Primary Schools Debate Competition
Archway was proud to host the Stroud Primary Schools Debate Competition on Wednesday 2nd March.
As part of the Sainsbury’s School Games, schools were asked to prepare an argument as to which sportsmen and women they thought should have the highest salary. Rugby players were the chosen ones for Minchinhampton Primary school, while the students of The British School went for the more off-piste choice of competitors in the Luge.
The students from Years Five and Six impressed us all with their eloquence and confidence as well as their ability to think under pressure as the audience fired questions at them. Minchinhampton won the debate by a whisker.
I’d like to thank my fellow judges, Mrs Winfield and Mr Jeffery, for helping in some tough decision making. Further thanks are due to Mr Jeffery for organising the logistics – no easy feat!
