On 9th March Mr Saville and Ms Coleman took fifteen students from years 7 -11 to Wembley Arena for We Day.
The We programme aims to help young people discover local and global issues they care about and empowers young people to take action to make a difference in the lives of others.
Last year through We activities £40 million was raised for 2,500 charities. In Archway we raised over £4,000 to help children with their education in Nepal. We heard from Labrinth, Nico and Vinz and Rita Ora. Kate Winslett spoke about positive body image and how she felt when she was bullied at school for being fat.
Laura Whitmore, Bluey Robinson and Sam Evans hosted the show and Professor Brian Cox spoke about the beauty of our planet and why we need to care for it—it’s the only home we’ve got!
Spencer West gave a motivational speech about how he managed to climb Mount Kilimanjaro despite having no legs and Marlee Matlin delivered her speech in American sign language – we all learned to clap in sign language.
