Approaching Transition

At Archway School we are committed to providing helpful information and opportunities for primary school students and their parents to prepare for transition to secondary school.

With so much choice in the Stroud area we understand how important it is for students and their parents to make informed choices when it comes to selecting the most appropriate secondary school.

To facilitate this we work closely with local primary schools to arrange a number of events for Y5 students & their parents each academic year:

Virtual meetings with Mr Smith and the Head of Key Stage 3 take place in the Spring Term of Y5. Students can find out more about life as a secondary school student and in particular ask questions about opportunities on offer at our school.

5th & 7th July 2021: We invite primary school students and their parents to visit us on either of our Summer Open Mornings to meet with key staff, to have a guided tour of the school and a chance to see lessons in progress.

8th or 9th July: Year 5 students will visit Archway with their primary school for our Y5 Activity Mornings. They will take part in a series of taster lessons to experience what it is like to learn in a secondary school environment. Arrangements for these visits have already been made with individual primary schools.

In addition to these events you can find out more about Archway School by using the links on this page. Take a virtual tour around the school to view our facilities and see the opportunities on offer at Archway.  You will be able to continue developing skills and talents that you have discovered at primary school and you will also have the chance to try many new pursuits.

If you have any questions about these events or about transition in general, please contact Mrs Durrant, either via the main school number (01453 763242) or by e-mail,
